Dhaka, Jan 22 (V7N) — As the date of the 13th National Parliament Election draws closer, the interim government has extended the previously announced election holiday by an additional day. As a result, February 11 (Wednesday) has been declared a general holiday, said Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Advisory Council held on Thursday (January 22). The Press Secretary disclosed the information at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium in the capital later in the afternoon.
He said that, in addition to the earlier declaration of a general holiday on February 12, the election day, the government has now approved another general holiday on February 11. Furthermore, February 10 has been declared a holiday specifically for workers and employees in industrial areas.
“With this decision, workers in industrial zones will enjoy three consecutive days off—February 10, 11, and 12,” Shafiqul Alam said.
The extended holiday is aimed at ensuring smooth participation of voters, maintaining law and order, and facilitating election-related activities across the country.
