Sylhet, Jan 22 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to formally launch its election campaign with a mass rally at the Alia Madrasa Ground in Sylhet on Thursday (January 22), with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman attending as the chief guest.

The rally is scheduled to begin after 10:00 am, though leaders and activists started arriving at the venue in large numbers late Wednesday night. Since early morning, the gathering has continued to grow, creating a festive and energetic atmosphere around the rally ground.

Party leaders and activists from six parliamentary constituencies in Sylhet district and five constituencies in Sunamganj district have joined the rally, marking a strong organizational presence at the campaign’s opening event.

BNP leaders noted that the party has traditionally launched its election campaigns from Sylhet, regarded as a holy land, and said that Tarique Rahman is continuing that long-standing political tradition. Throughout the venue, slogans demanding victory for the BNP’s “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol echoed among supporters.

During the rally, Tarique Rahman is expected to introduce BNP-nominated candidates to voters, outline the party’s plans for national development and public welfare, and call on citizens to cast their votes in favor of BNP candidates in the upcoming national election.

After concluding the Sylhet rally, Tarique Rahman will travel to Dhaka by road, addressing brief roadside meetings along the way in Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Bhairab, Narsingdi, and Narayanganj, party sources said.
