Dhaka Jan 20 (V7N) — Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that clear instructions have been issued to recover looted weapons as quickly as possible ahead of the upcoming national elections, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly electoral environment.

He made the statement during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium on Tuesday (January 20) afternoon.

The Press Secretary said that there is no uncertainty regarding the elections, expressing optimism that the polls will be held on schedule and will witness a record voter turnout.

He also informed that the meeting approved 11 proposals related to administrative reorganization.

Among the decisions, Shafiqul Alam said that the proposal to rename the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has been approved.

To enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in government revenue collection, the meeting approved the formation of two separate administrative divisions under the Ministry of Finance — the Revenue Policy Department and the Revenue Management Department. In this regard, the Revenue Policy and Revenue Management Ordinance 2025 has already been issued.

The Press Secretary further said that the establishment of four new police stations has been approved. These include:

  • Purbachal Uttar Police Station in Gazipur district

  • Purbachal South Police Station in Narayanganj district

  • Matarbari Police Station in Cox’s Bazar district

In addition, a proposal to establish a new police station by dividing Raipura Police Station in Narsingdi district has been approved.

The meeting also approved a proposal to correct the spelling of the police station named “Bhulli” in Thakurgaon district, replacing it with the accurate spelling.

The government reiterated that these measures are part of broader efforts to strengthen law enforcement, administrative efficiency, and election preparedness ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.
