Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N) — The eighth day of appeal hearings against the decisions of Returning Officers regarding the acceptance and rejection of nomination papers for the 13th National Parliament election began on Saturday (January 17) at 10:00 am at the Election Commission (EC).

According to the EC, the hearings will continue until 5:00 pm, during which appeals numbered 511 to 610 are scheduled to be taken up. Sunday (January 18) has been set as the final day for hearing all remaining appeals.

Earlier, on Friday, the Commission disposed of 43 appeals within two hours. Of those, 18 candidates had their nomination papers restored, 21 appeals were rejected, and four applications were kept pending.

So far, the Election Commission has approved 355 appeals out of 510 hearings conducted to date. The appeal hearing process at the EC is expected to conclude on Sunday.

The Commission also said that the final date for withdrawal of candidature for the upcoming parliamentary election is January 20.
