Dhaka, Jan 16 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) completed the seventh day of hearings on appeals filed against the decisions of Returning Officers regarding nomination papers for the 13th National Parliament election.

The hearings were held on Friday (January 16) from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Election Building in Agargaon, continuing even though it was a holiday. Appeals numbered 481 to 510 were addressed during the session. Out of 43 appeals heard today, 18 were approved, 21 were rejected, and 4 remain pending.

A total of 645 appeals have been submitted to the EC challenging the acceptance or cancellation of nomination papers for this election. On the last day of the nomination process, January 4, Returning Officers or Assistant Returning Officers in 300 constituencies had declared 1,842 nomination papers valid out of 2,568 papers submitted, while the candidatures of 723 candidates were cancelled.

The Election Commission will continue to hear the remaining appeals according to its schedule, ensuring that all candidates have the opportunity to challenge any decisions regarding their nomination papers.
