Dhaka, Jan 16 (V7N) — The seventh day of the appeal hearing against the decisions of Returning Officers over the scrutiny of nomination papers for the 13th National Parliament election is set to take place today.

According to the Election Commission (EC), today’s hearing will begin at 3:00 pm on Friday (January 16) and continue until 5:00 pm at the Election Building in Agargaon. During this session, appeals numbered 481 to 510 will be heard.

On the sixth day of hearings, held last Thursday, the EC disposed of 104 appeal applications. Of these, 60 applications were approved, 34 were rejected, and 10 were kept pending. The sixth day’s proceedings started at 10:00 am and continued until the afternoon.

Earlier, on the first day of the appeal hearings, held on Saturday (January 10), the EC reviewed 70 applications, declaring 52 valid, while 15 were rejected and three were suspended.

So far, hearings held up to Thursday have resulted in the restoration of candidature for 337 candidates. At the same time, the appeals of 115 candidates have been rejected or canceled, while 33 applications remain pending.

The Election Commission stated that hearings on the remaining appeals will be completed sequentially in accordance with the predetermined schedule.
