Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N)- Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumdar has said that the price of rice in the domestic market remains stable, and there is no possibility of a price hike at present.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at his office at the Secretariat on Monday (January 4) morning.

The Food Advisor said that the overall food stock situation in the country is satisfactory. According to official data, government food warehouses currently hold 20,27,420 metric tonnes of food grains.

Of this total stock:

  • 16,96,787 metric tonnes are rice

  • 2,33,224 metric tonnes are wheat

  • 97,409 metric tonnes are paddy

Emphasizing that there is no fear of a food shortage, Ali Imam Majumdar also dismissed concerns over possible impacts from political tensions between Bangladesh and India.

“Trade between the two countries is continuing as usual, and the current situation will not affect the country’s food security,” he said.
