Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N)- Information and Broadcasting Advisor Rizwana Hasan has said that despite a narrative being created around the electoral environment, political parties have not raised any specific complaints, and the country is steadily moving toward elections.
She made the remarks at a view-sharing meeting at the Secretariat on Sunday (January 4) morning.
“The Election Commission is functioning, and the country is progressing towards the election,” the advisor said, adding that the overall process is moving forward in line with the schedule.
Rizwana Hasan also said that initiatives are underway to formulate a Broadcasting Ordinance and a Journalist Protection Ordinance within one month during the tenure of the interim government.
Commenting on the exclusion of Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL, the advisor said that politics has been dragged into sports. “The arguments on which Mustafizur was excluded have no solid basis. In such a situation, we will also have to respond,” she said.
She further noted that a decision regarding Mustafizur Rahman and IPL broadcasting would be taken after carefully considering the legal aspects.
