Dhaka, Jan 04 (V7N)- Today marks the final day of scrutiny of nomination papers submitted by prospective candidates for the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum.
According to the election schedule, the final list of nomination papers for candidates contesting in 300 constituencies across the country will be determined today. Following the completion of the scrutiny process, the Election Commission (EC) will publish the total number of valid and cancelled nomination papers.
The EC said that candidates whose nominations have been cancelled by the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer will have the opportunity to file appeals with the Election Commission from January 5 to January 9. The appeal hearings will be conducted and resolved between January 10 and January 18.
In the capital, the EC reported that out of 238 candidates who submitted nomination papers in 20 parliamentary constituencies in Dhaka, 161 nominations have been declared valid, while 81 have been cancelled following scrutiny.
Election officials stated that the process is being carried out in accordance with electoral laws and procedures to ensure transparency and fairness in the upcoming polls.
