Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N)- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that although the recent Osman Hadi incident has created some fear among the public, the overall election environment remains fully intact.

He made the remarks on Monday (December 22) afternoon after inspecting overseas voting operations at the Tejgaon Mail Processing Center in the capital.

The CEC expressed confidence that the law and order situation will continue to improve as election day approaches, adding that any fear among candidates and voters will gradually subside.

“There is no restriction on the festive atmosphere of voting in the current situation,” he said, adding that the Election Commission, political parties, and voters are united in ensuring a credible election.

Referring to the postal voting system, which is being implemented on a large scale for the first time in the country’s electoral history, the CEC said that despite some initial challenges in the registration process, the Commission remains satisfied with the overall progress.

Addressing voters, AMM Nasir Uddin said that three more days remain for registration, urging those intending to vote by postal ballot within the country to complete their registration within the deadline.

“Everyone who registers within the stipulated time will be eligible to vote. We expect a significant increase in registration over the next three days,” he said, adding that the Commission hopes the country’s hybrid voting solution will serve as a model for the world.

The CEC also assured that the entire electoral process is being conducted with maximum security, expressing optimism that the registration rate will see a substantial rise by December 25.
