Rangpur, Dec 06 (V7N) – Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain has said that the upcoming election is a major test for the country and stressed that maintaining law and order is crucial to ensuring a fair and acceptable electoral process.

“We have a very big test ahead of us—that is the election. The chief advisor always says that there should be an ideal election so that no one has any complaints. In that case, law and order is very important,” he said.

Touhid Hossain made the remarks on Saturday (December 6) following a view-sharing meeting with government officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in Rangpur.

He noted that law and order form the foundation of all state activities. “If law and order is not good, nothing can be achieved. We know that we have had a very bad time in this regard. However, there is hope that the police have now consolidated their position,” he said.

The advisor also warned that candidates who fear defeat may try to create unrest ahead of the polls. “Keeping that in mind, I believe adequate measures will be taken. The Chief Election Commissioner has already held meetings, and the Home Ministry is also quite vigilant in this regard,” he added.

Expressing optimism, Touhid Hossain said, “We hope that a government will be formed through a free and fair election, after which we will be able to hand over responsibilities and step aside.”

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan, Metropolitan Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) Tofail Ahmed, Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain, and officials from various government departments were also present at the meeting.
