Magura, Dec 05 (V7N) – Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said on Friday that the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has proven the genocide carried out by the fascist government during the July Movement. He emphasized that the main goal now is to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the inter-college football tournament at Magura Government High School grounds at 11 am.

Regarding Tarique Rahman, the Press Secretary stated:
“There is no obstacle from the government for his return. He can come back whenever he wants. It is entirely his personal and party matter.”

Shafiqul Alam criticized discussions around the so-called ‘Minus Four Formula’, saying:
“Those who are talking about it are like friends of tyranny. The government has never minused anyone.”

Calling BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia a national leader, he said:
“She is the leader of all people, not just the BNP. We wish her well and hope for her safe return. Bangladesh needs her presence.”

On the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, the Press Secretary said the government is working to ensure free, impartial, and fair elections.
“Fair elections will be held with participation from all political parties by February 15. The Election Commission has already completed discussions with all political parties. The interim government wants peace and fair elections in the country,” he added.
