Dhaka, Dec 04 (V7N) - Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser, arrived at Evercare Hospital shortly after 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 3, to check on the health of Begum Khaleda Zia. During the visit, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance and urged the public to pray for her speedy recovery.
The Chief Adviser spent nearly half an hour at the hospital, during which he advised Begum Zia’s family and party members to remain patient. National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman accompanied him during the hospital visit.
Upon arrival, Dr. Yunus was received by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Begum Zia’s personal physicians Professor Dr. A J M Zahid Hossain and Professor Dr. Shahabuddin Talukdar, Zia’s daughter-in-law Syeda Sharmila Rahman, and her younger brother Shamim Eskander. The medical team briefed Dr. Yunus on her current condition, noting that her treatment is being conducted under the supervision of experts from Mount Sinai and Johns Hopkins in the United States, as well as specialists from the United Kingdom, China, and other countries.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, Dr. Richard Billi, head of the specialist medical team from the United Kingdom, arrived at Evercare Hospital to assist in Begum Zia’s treatment. Her personal physician Dr. Al Mamun confirmed the visit.
While Begum Khaleda Zia’s condition remains stable, the hospital’s medical board has deemed additional specialist opinions necessary to ensure comprehensive care and evaluate the ongoing treatment plan. Consequently, specialist teams from the United Kingdom and China were invited to provide guidance.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, media officer for BNP Chairperson, stated that the involvement of international specialists is expected to provide new directions in her treatment. The Evercare Hospital medical board has already shared relevant medical reports and recent test data with the foreign experts to facilitate coordinated decisions and ensure optimal care from the outset.
Begum Khaleda Zia’s illness has temporarily halted the party’s organizational activities, with party leaders unable to focus on routine operations. Prayers and supplications for her quick recovery are continuing across the country.
