Dhaka, Dec 02 (V7N) — The interim government is prepared to provide full security to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and special protection will be arranged if necessary, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He made the remarks during a briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
“The Home Ministry is ready to provide security to everyone. There is no security threat to any individual in Bangladesh at the moment. If anyone needs additional protection, we are prepared to provide it,” the advisor said.
He also noted that the government is reviewing the report submitted by the BDR murder investigation commission, adding that “constructive and important recommendations will be implemented.”
Regarding preparations for the upcoming national elections, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said discussions are ongoing about identifying the number of risky polling centers, though the final list has not yet been determined. He further stated that details about the number of body cameras to be procured for election duty will be announced later.
