Dhaka, Nov 19 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that there is no panic or unrest surrounding the upcoming Victory Day celebrations. However, unlike last year, there will be no parade this time.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Law and Order Committee at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the advisor said that while the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs organizes the Victory Day events, the Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for ensuring overall security.
He noted that the national celebrations will proceed as planned and that there has been no change in the official program. He also stated that there is no unrest in the country regarding the verdict involving Sheikh Hasina.
Responding to a question about the sudden withdrawal of DB police in the middle of the night, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “I only just heard about it. A statement can be made only after investigating the matter.”
