Patuakhali, Nov 15 (V7N) — Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that law enforcement agencies will be fully active in the field five days prior to the upcoming election, with major operations planned to ensure a peaceful voting process.
Speaking to reporters in front of the Patuakhali Circuit House around 2:30 pm on Saturday, the advisor said that security personnel will be deployed for nine days in total — five days leading up to the election and three days including election day. “Major activities will be carried out during the five days before the election,” he added.
Currently, 30,000 army personnel are on duty, but the deployment will increase to approximately 100,000 army personnel, 150,000 police, 35,000 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, 5,000 Navy, 4,000 Coast Guard, 8,000 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and around 550,000 Ansar personnel during the election period.
Lieutenant General Chowdhury emphasized that there is no doubt about the security of the election, assuring that it will be conducted very peacefully.
After speaking to the media, the Home Affairs Advisor proceeded to inspect the Patuakhali Police Lines and Coast Guard Station. He is scheduled to visit the Naval Police and Tourist Police camps in Kuakata, spend the night there, and continue to Barisal before returning to Dhaka.
