Dhaka, Nov 13 (V7N) — The Election Commission (EC) has begun its dialogue with registered political parties ahead of the 13th National Parliament election, aiming to ensure an inclusive and credible electoral process.

The first day of the dialogue started this morning (Wednesday) with six registered parties, including the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Bangladesh Congress, Bangladesh Muslim League, National People’s Party (NPP), Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, participating in the morning session from 10 am to 12 noon.

The afternoon session (2 pm–4 pm) will feature discussions with the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSAD), Bangladesh Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), and Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Andolan (BNM).

According to EC officials, the dialogue will continue in several phases, engaging all registered political parties, including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and NCP, in later sessions. The Awami League has not been invited as its political activities remain banned.

Currently, 53 political parties are registered with the Election Commission. The registrations of the Freedom Party, United Citizens’ Movement, and PDP have been cancelled, while the Awami League’s registration is suspended.

Letters inviting parties to the dialogue were sent on Tuesday (November 11) by the EC’s Public Relations Wing.
