Dhaka, Nov 12 (V7N) — Interim Government Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that preparations are underway for upcoming elections, describing them as a historic moment for the nation.
He made the remarks while meeting a seven-member Canadian parliamentary delegation at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday. During the meeting, Dr. Yunus briefed the delegation on the election preparations and ongoing reform processes. The discussion also covered ways to strengthen bilateral trade cooperation and address the Rohingya crisis.
On the Rohingya issue, Dr. Yunus emphasized that a lasting solution lies in the return of the Rohingya to their homeland. Leading the Canadian delegation, Senator Salma Ataullah Jan reiterated Canada’s commitment to the Rohingya cause and expressed willingness to cooperate in expanding trade ties with Bangladesh.
