Dhaka, Nov 09 (V7N) — Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government and Youth and Sports, has announced his intention to contest independently in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.

He made the announcement while speaking to reporters after casting his vote at the Dhanmondi Police Station election office on Sunday (November 9) afternoon.

“It is almost certain that I will contest from Dhaka. I have transferred my vote here from my previous area, and I hope it does not go to waste,” Asif said.

When asked about his chosen constituency, he replied, “No final decision has been made yet on which seat I will contest from. However, it is certain that I will participate from Dhaka.”

Regarding potential political alliances, the advisor clarified, “I have not held discussions with any party. It is not my concern which party leaves which seat vacant. For now, I will run independently.”

On the issue of resignation from his advisory post, Asif said, “The timing of my resignation depends on the decision of the higher authorities. We will discuss it and announce it soon.”

Commenting on the July Charter, he noted, “Nothing can be said conclusively about the charter right now. The government is working for the people and advancing equally in the areas of justice, reform, and democratic transformation. Significant progress in justice will be seen within this month, while the reform process is already underway.”
