Pabna, Nov 09 (V7N) — President Mohammad Shahabuddin arrived in his home district of Pabna on Saturday morning for a two-day official visit, marking his fifth trip to the district since assuming office as the 22nd President of Bangladesh.
The President’s helicopter landed at Pabna Stadium at around 9:40 a.m., where he was warmly received by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam and Superintendent of Police Mortoza Ali Khan. He later proceeded to the Circuit House, where he was given a guard of honor at 9:45 a.m.
According to the President’s itinerary, he will visit the graves of his parents at Arifpur Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. and then proceed to his residence in the Jubileetank area of Kalachandpara to meet relatives and spend some quiet time with family. He will stay overnight at the Circuit House.
On Sunday morning, the final day of his visit, President Shahabuddin will again receive a guard of honor at 10:45 a.m. before departing from the Pabna Stadium helipad at 11:00 a.m. for Dhaka’s Bangabhaban.
Strict security measures have been enforced in key areas, including the stadium, Circuit House, Arifpur Cemetery, and the President’s residence, to ensure safety throughout the visit.
Notably, this marks the President’s first visit to his home district in about 15 months since his previous trip on August 5. Unlike earlier visits, when Pabna would be adorned with banners, posters, and festoons, this time the atmosphere remains relatively quiet, with no major public celebrations surrounding the trip.
President Shahabuddin, who took office on April 24, 2023, made his first visit to Pabna as Head of State on May 15 of the same year.
