Dhaka, Nov 03 (V7N)- The interim government has called on political parties to quickly resolve the unresolved issues regarding the referendum and the July Charter and inform the government of their decisions.

Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul announced this at a press conference following a meeting of the Advisory Council on Monday afternoon (November 3).

Dr. Nazrul said the government seeks joint consultations with anti-fascist political forces—who have long been united in political struggle—within a week if possible.

“There is no time to waste now,” the Legal Advisor said, adding, “If the political parties cannot provide joint consultations, the government will take its own measures.”

He stated that the Advisory Council emphasized the need for quick decisions on key issues, including the timing and content of the referendum and how to address dissenting opinions on the July Charter. He added that the government’s tasks would be much easier if it received timely input from political parties.

The meeting also reaffirmed the government’s determination to hold national elections in the first half of February next year.

Following his statement, Dr. Nazrul responded to a few questions from reporters, saying that while the government had facilitated dialogue among political parties several times in the past, it would not do so again this time.

“Since the anti-fascist parties have sat together before and made important decisions, we hope they will do so again,” he said.
