Dhaka, Oct 12 (V7N) – Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has departed for Rome, Italy, to attend the flagship event of the World Food Forum, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

A Bangladesh Biman flight carrying the Chief Advisor and his entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:30 am on Sunday (October 12).

According to the itinerary, Professor Yunus will deliver a keynote address at the main session of the forum as an invited guest. He is also scheduled to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the heads of various international organizations to discuss global food security, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development.

The World Food Forum, held from October 10 to 17 at the FAO headquarters in Rome, serves as a major platform for policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to exchange ideas on the future of the global food system.

The Chief Advisor’s participation is being regarded as a significant step in Bangladesh’s active engagement in international diplomacy.

Professor Yunus is scheduled to return home on October 15.
