Dhaka, Oct 08 (V7N) – Women and Children Affairs Advisor Sharmin S. Murshid has said that ensuring the safety and security of girl children is a top priority for the government and must be achieved “at any cost.”
She made the remarks while speaking at a discussion meeting at Bangladesh Shishu Academy on Wednesday (October 8), following a rally at Doel Chattar in the capital marking National Girl Child Day.
“The government is working to reach girl children in danger as quickly as possible,” the advisor said, adding that efforts are underway to extend support to grassroots and marginalized girls across the country.
Sharmin S. Murshid also announced that a special barcode system has been launched, allowing girls to directly contact the ministry in case of emergencies. “Our goal is to reach any girl in distress within 24 hours,” she added.
The theme for this year’s National Girl Child Day is “When girls stand tall, everyone can stand tall.”
