Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Foreign Ministry Secretary Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Islam has said that resolving the Rohingya crisis is the collective responsibility of the government and a core part of Bangladesh’s foreign policy, not solely the duty of the Foreign Ministry.

He made the remarks at a symposium titled “Rohingya Crisis: New Eyes Beyond the Headlines” jointly organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Oxfam on Saturday morning.

Dr. Islam pointed out that foreign investment in Cox’s Bazar and Maheshkhali is being negatively impacted by the prolonged Rohingya crisis. He stressed that Bangladesh continues to seek a peaceful, non-conflict resolution and highlighted the importance of the upcoming United Nations high-level meeting in this regard.

Other speakers at the symposium underscored the need for greater geopolitical goodwill, noting that regional players beyond Bangladesh also have the scope to play a decisive role in resolving the crisis.
