Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N) – Sharmin S. Murshid, Advisor to the Ministry of Social Welfare and Women and Child Affairs, visited Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday morning to inquire about the health of Nurul Haque Nur, President of the Gana Adhikar Parishad, who is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Sharmin S. Murshid arrived at the hospital around 10:45 am.
Meanwhile, DMCH Director Brigadier General Md. Asaduzzaman provided an update on Nur’s condition, stating that he is gradually improving. Nur has sustained four major injuries: broken nose and jawbones, an eye injury, and bleeding in the brain.
“The CT scan report is coming back positive. He is still experiencing some trauma, but all treatment is being carried out under the supervision of the medical board. He will be moved from the ICU to a general bed very soon,” Brig. Gen. Asaduzzaman said.
The director also expressed hope that Nur could be released within a week, adding that the broken bones will heal over time and the brain hemorrhage is gradually improving.
The injuries were sustained during clashes on Friday night between leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party (JPA) and the Gana Adhikar Parishad in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. Several people, including Nur and General Secretary Muhammad Rashed Khan, were injured when law enforcement agencies intervened to disperse the groups. Nur was initially taken to Islami Bank Hospital due to the severity of his injuries and later transferred to the emergency department of DMCH around 11 pm on medical advice.
