Dhaka, Aug 25 (V7N) – On the eighth anniversary of the Rohingya crisis, diplomatic missions in Bangladesh have issued a joint statement reaffirming their solidarity with the Rohingya people and host communities.
The statement highlighted that more than 1.1 million Rohingya remain in Bangladesh, with large numbers continuing to take shelter in refugee camps. It noted that Rohingya refugees consistently express their desire to return home to Myanmar.
Condemning the actions of the Myanmar military, the missions pointed to ongoing violence and human rights violations committed by the regime and armed groups.
“Even after eight years, the international community stands firmly with the Rohingya and Bangladesh,” the statement declared, stressing the urgency of accountability and justice.
The missions further emphasized their commitment to working toward a durable solution to the crisis, including conditions that would allow for the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of Rohingya to their homeland.
