Dhaka, July 18, (V7N) – SpaceX Vice President Lauren Dreyer met with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, at the State Guest House, Jamuna, on Friday. The two discussed the role of technology in addressing connectivity gaps and improving access to public services in remote areas of Bangladesh.

During the meeting, Dr. Yunus highlighted the challenges faced during the rainy season, including floods and waterlogging, which disrupt connectivity in hilly and remote regions. He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen digital infrastructure, particularly in areas lacking sufficient schools, teachers, and doctors. As part of the government's plan, online education will be introduced in 100 schools to support students in these underserved areas.

Lauren Dreyer expressed admiration for the efficiency of the Interim Government’s decision-making. “We work in 150 countries and regions across the world, but I have never seen such speed and clarity in action,” she said, adding that SpaceX is keen to collaborate with Bangladesh’s Interim Government.

Dr. Yunus also discussed plans to expand digital healthcare services. He said, “We want to build a system where people in remote regions can receive medical advice online. Patients’ medical histories will be digitally stored to improve follow-up care. This is especially important for pregnant women who often face mobility challenges in seeking care.”

Dreyer praised the initiatives, calling them “commendable” and highlighting the role of technology in decentralizing services and tackling corruption. “Using digital platforms to improve governance and reduce corruption is a powerful step forward,” she said.

The meeting was also attended by SpaceX Global Engagement Consultant Richard Griffiths, National Security Advisor Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor Faiz Ahmad Tayyab, and Executive Chairman of BIDA and BEZA, Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun.
