Dhaka, May 18 (V7N) – The old Road No. 27 in Dhanmondi has been officially renamed ‘Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz Road’, in honor of Mohammad Farhanul Islam Bhuiyan, a martyr of the July Uprising.

Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Youth and Sports, announced on his verified Facebook page that the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) unveiled the nameplate for the road on Sunday.

Farhan Faiyaz, an 11th-grade student of Dhaka Residential Model College, was fatally shot in the chest on July 18, 2024, while leading the anti-discrimination student movement near Rapa Plaza and Genetic Plaza on the old Road No. 27.

The renaming serves as a tribute to his sacrifice and commemorates his role in the student movement.
