Dhaka, May 16 (V7N) – In a departure from the usual weekly holiday, all banks across the country will remain open on Saturday (May 17) to ensure uninterrupted financial services ahead of the extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays.

This decision follows the government's plan to implement a 10-day holiday from June 5 to June 14 in observance of Eid. To adjust for this extended break, the Advisory Council of the Interim Government decided in a meeting on May 6 that all government offices, including banks and financial institutions, will remain open on two Saturdays—May 17 and May 24.

As per instructions from Bangladesh Bank, both public and private bank branches—including their head offices—will conduct normal banking operations on these days.

Banking and Financial Services Available:

  • Cash deposits and withdrawals

  • Cheque clearing

  • Fund transfers

  • Loan services and account management

  • Online banking and digital services

Capital Market Also Open:

In line with the Bangladesh Bank directive, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will also remain operational on May 17 and 24.

  • Trading Hours: 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM

This arrangement is expected to ease financial pressure and ensure smooth banking operations before the Eid rush, especially for businesses, investors, and remittance recipients.
