Rajshahi, Dec 11 (V7N) - Aminul Islam, a resident of Gola village in Godagari Upazila, Rajshahi, has emerged as a successful farmer, earning recognition in the region for his achievements. Despite completing a master’s degree in political science and passing the bar, Aminul chose agriculture over a conventional career in law or public service. Today, he is not only thriving financially but also inspiring local youth to pursue modern farming.
Aminul owns around 20 bighas of land with orchards of mango, jackfruit, orange, mandarin, and guava, along with 30 bighas of ponds for fish farming. His skill, planning, and consistent care distinguish him from other farmers. Remarkably, his jackfruit trees bear fruit even in winter, attracting attention from neighboring farmers. Last year, he sold individual jackfruits for Tk 800 to 900 each, and this year, the 400 trees in his orchard are expected to generate at least Tk 10 lakh in revenue. He meticulously manages each tree with proper fertilizers, irrigation, and care.
In addition to fruit cultivation, Aminul is also successful in vegetable farming. He cultivates cabbage on approximately 20 bighas of land every year, and this year, 16 bighas were planted with improved cabbage varieties. He has already earned nearly 1 million Taka from cabbage sales.
From the beginning, Aminul believed that with land, hard work, and proper planning, agriculture could be highly profitable. His conviction has turned into reality, making him a self-made millionaire. He has invested his earnings in constructing a two-story house, buying a vehicle, and acquiring an additional 10 bighas of farmland, expanding his agricultural enterprise every year.
Aminul explained, “I chose farming out of passion, not for financial gain. Practicing law or working in a conventional job would require submitting to authority, which did not appeal to me. By modernizing traditional farming, I have achieved success and fulfillment. It remains the best decision of my life.”
His orchards now serve as a learning ground for local farmers, who visit to observe his techniques and cultivation practices. Beyond his own success, Aminul actively supports neighboring farmers by providing saplings, advice, and hands-on guidance on proper care.
Aminul Islam’s journey demonstrates that educated and dedicated individuals can revolutionize agriculture, achieving financial success and uplifting the local farming community. His winter jackfruits and high-value cabbage crops exemplify the transformative potential of modern, disciplined farming practices.
