Dhaka, May 27 (V7N)- At least one person was killed and 10 to 12 others were injured in a road accident involving two buses in the capital’s Nadda area on Wednesday morning (May 27).
The accident occurred after 6 am on Pragati Sarani when a bus belonging to Islam Paribahan, operating on the Dhaka-Barisal route, reportedly crossed the road divider and collided with an Akash Paribahan bus, according to eyewitnesses and Fire Service officials.
Following the collision, the Islam Paribahan bus overturned on the road.
After receiving an emergency call through the national hotline Triple Nine, Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the injured passengers. The victims were later sent to Kurmitola General Hospital and Baridhara General Hospital for treatment.
Fire Service officials said that several of the injured were in critical condition.
The accident also caused severe traffic congestion on the busy Pragati Sarani road during the morning rush hour. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
