Jhalokathi, Dec 31 (V7N) — A tragic incident occurred in the Bhatkathi area of Baroia Union under Rajapur upazila of Jhalokathi on Tuesday noon, where a fourth-grade student reportedly died by suicide after coming home from school with his annual examination results.

The deceased was identified as Salman Farsi, a Class IV student of Bhatkathi Government Primary School. Family members said the child had been suffering from mental health issues for a long time but had shown signs of recovery over the past month.

According to relatives, Salman returned home from school after receiving his annual exam results and spoke briefly with his mother before entering a wooden toilet beside their residence. When he did not come out for a prolonged period, his mother repeatedly called out to him. Receiving no response, she broke open the door and found him unconscious.

Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help and took the child to the emergency department of Rajapur Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared him dead after examination.

Upon receiving the information, Rajapur police visited the health complex and began preliminary inquiries. Police said legal procedures related to the incident are currently underway.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the local community, prompting renewed concern over child mental health and exam-related stress.
