Rangamati, Nov 13 (V7N) — A retired school teacher, Rekha Chowdhury, 60, tragically died after accidentally falling from the rooftop of her home in Bangalhalia Bazar, Bangalhalia Union, Rajsthali upazila on Wednesday evening. Rekha Chowdhury had recently retired from her position as an assistant teacher at Gaindya High School just 15 days ago.

According to local sources, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. while she was alone on the second-floor rooftop of her house, located near the Kali Mandir in Bangalhalia Bazar. At some point, she fell from the second floor onto the first-floor rooftop. Since she was alone, no one immediately noticed the incident.

Her youngest son, Rana Chowdhury, returned home around 9:00 p.m. and, after receiving no response at the door, used an alternative route to reach the first floor. He found his mother lying in a pool of blood. With assistance from her cousin Amarnath Chowdhury and other locals, she was quickly taken to Chandraghona Christian Mission Hospital, where the attending doctors declared her dead.

Locals believe that she may have died instantly at the scene due to excessive blood loss.

Rekha Chowdhury was the widow of the late Dilip Chowdhury, a well-known and respected member of the community. Her sudden death has cast a deep shadow of grief over the area. Colleagues, students, and local residents have expressed their sorrow and extended condolences to her bereaved family.
