Jhalokathi, Oct 30 (V7N) – A worker was killed and five others injured when a rural electricity supply trolley lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch in the Agolpasha Baklai Bari area of Jhalokathi Sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m.
The deceased was identified as Md. Sohel, 30, son of Nur Akon from Banaripara upazila.
Eyewitnesses said the trolley, carrying materials for the Rural Electrification Board, suddenly went out of control and hit an electric pole before overturning into a nearby ditch. Sohel died instantly at the scene, while five others sustained injuries.
The injured were identified as Solaiman, 22, son of Abul Bashar of Dakkhin Rajapur Balai Bari in Rajapur; Imon Hossain, 20, son of Musa Molla from Narail; Rohan, 15, son of Md. Rasel from Jajira upazila in Shariatpur; Hamim, 18, son of Shafiqul Sharif from Goaland village in Kotalipara, Gopalganj; and Samiul, 27, son of Golam Rasul Molla from Bogura village in Narail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman of Jhalokathi Sadar Police Station said Sohel’s body has been kept at Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital for autopsy, and the injured are undergoing treatment. Legal proceedings regarding the fatal accident are underway.
