Feni, Oct 3 (V7N) – At least three people, including two women, were killed and eight others injured when a Sugandha Paribahan bus lost control and overturned onto a roadside shop in Feni’s Daganbhuiyan upazila on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred around 10:15 AM near the Lucky Road intersection adjacent to Silonya Bazar on the Feni-Noakhali regional highway. Police, hospital staff, and eyewitnesses reported that the bus, traveling from Feni’s Mohipal toward Noakhali, struck an electric pole after losing control, before overturning and crashing into a shop.

The deceased were identified as Shamim Ara Begum (50), wife of Shahidullah from Khushipur area of Daganbhuiyan, and Md. Shraban (20), son of Abdul Matin from South Joylaskor village in the same upazila. Another female victim remains unidentified.

Local residents and bystanders immediately rushed to rescue the injured and transported them to Feni 250-bed General Hospital, where doctors declared three people dead on arrival. Shraban’s elder brother, Saddam Hossain, said his brother had gone to Silonya Bazar to drive his autorickshaw as usual. The overturned bus fell on top of his vehicle, crushing him to death.

Eyewitnesses Sajjad Hossain and expatriate returnee Md. Piyas stated that the Sugandha bus was speeding excessively. Just before Silonya Bridge, the driver lost control, hitting the left and then the right side of the road before colliding with an electric pole and crashing into a shop.

Seven others are currently undergoing treatment, and one critically injured patient has been referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced care.
