Dhaka, July 24 (V7N) - A devastating road accident occurred on Wednesday morning when a microbus, carrying a family of eight, collided head-on with a truck on the Dhaka–Rajshahi Highway near the Arimari Tarmuj Pump area of the Banpara-Hatikumrul road in Natore district. The crash resulted in the tragic death of all passengers, including the driver.

The victims were identified as Zahidul Islam Farazi (58) and his wife Selina Begum (52), sister Rosnara Akhtar Itti (48), cousin Ayyora Begum (52), cousin-in-law Amena Khatoon Anu (50), mother-in-law Anjumannara Khatoon (74), sister-in-law Seema Khatoon (35), and the driver, Shahab Hossain Rubel (35) from Meherpur's Gangni Upazila.

The family was traveling from their home in Kustia's Doulatpur Upazila to visit their son-in-law in Sirajganj after a recent surgery. The accident has left their family in deep mourning, with relatives and neighbors flocking to their residence in Dharmdah village to pay their condolences.

Other Fatalities:

In another tragic incident, a man named Atikur Rahman was killed after being trapped between two buses in Mugda, Dhaka. This incident took place in the morning in front of Mugda Hospital. Atikur, a resident of Munshiganj's North Islampur, was fatally crushed.

Similarly, in a tragic sequence of events across the country, a total of five road accidents took place on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Mirsarai, Chattogram, between 4 AM and 6 AM, leading to the death of truck driver Jamal Uddin.

Other road incidents in Narayanganj, Jhenaidah, and other areas also claimed lives, highlighting the ongoing road safety crisis. Notably, Mahidul Sheikh, a dredger worker, was killed in a truck accident on the Asian Highway in Sonargaon, Narayanganj.

A Rising Toll Across the Nation:

From Kaliganj in Jhenaidah to Kalihala in Netrokona, the roads across Bangladesh have been marred with accidents. Authorities are calling for urgent measures to address the growing number of traffic-related fatalities, as the nation continues to grapple with road safety concerns.
