New York, Sep 08 (V7N)- The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) begins today (September 8) at the United Nations headquarters in New York, with preparations completed for the new session.
The 80th session of the General Assembly will formally conclude on Tuesday morning local time. The 81st session will then begin at 3 pm.
Representatives of 193 member states, including heads of state and government, are expected to participate in the session.
Key issues on this year's agenda include restoring global trust, strengthening international cooperation, accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reforming the UN Security Council, ongoing conflicts and the global climate crisis.
The high-level general debate, featuring world leaders and senior representatives, is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28.
During this session, Morocco will occupy the first seat in the General Assembly hall.
Meanwhile, security measures have been strengthened across New York City ahead of the arrival of world leaders and delegations for the annual UN gathering.
