Kyiv, Sep 01 (V7N)- At least nine people were killed and 14 others injured in Russian air strikes on Kyiv and surrounding areas, Ukrainian authorities said Tuesday. Reuters reported that the attacks marked the sixth consecutive day of Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

According to Ukraine's emergency services, eight people were killed and five others injured in Kyiv itself. Three children were among those killed. Several fires also broke out across the capital following the missile and drone attacks.

In the Boryspil district of the Kyiv region, a missile and drone attack damaged a residential building and a business, killing one person and injuring nine others. One of the injured was a child.

Meanwhile, a drone attack also caused a fire at Russia's Ust-Luga port. Russian authorities said they attempted to repel a drone attack near Moscow.

The governor of Russia's Samara region also reported damage to civilian facilities following a drone attack there.

Both Russia and Ukraine have denied deliberately targeting civilians during the ongoing conflict.
