London, Aug 22 (V7N)- Seven people, including two police officers, were killed in a horrific road accident in the United Kingdom early Saturday morning.

The crash occurred at around 3am local time on Saturday (August 22), according to local police.

Police said a Volkswagen carrying five teenagers was travelling in the opposite direction when it collided with a police vehicle. All seven occupants of the two vehicles died at the scene.

The two police officers killed in the crash have been identified as 38-year-old Tom Clough and 37-year-old Matthew Blades.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage recorded by a house near the crash site has been released. The footage reportedly shows the police vehicle warning the Volkswagen shortly before the collision.

Despite the warning, the Volkswagen continued and collided with the police car from the opposite direction.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details about the identities of the five teenagers and the exact cause of the collision have not yet been released.
