Washington, D.C., Jul 19 (V7N)- U.S. President Donald Trump has described the deaths of American soldiers in an Iranian attack as “sad,” while reiterating that Washington will not allow Tehran to develop nuclear weapons.
In a phone interview with U.S. media outlet New Nation, Trump said, “The killing of US soldiers in Iran’s attack is very sad. We will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.”
The remarks came after two U.S. soldiers were killed in a ballistic missile and drone attack launched by Iran on Friday (July 17) targeting a U.S. facility in Jordan. Another U.S. service member remains missing following the incident.
Meanwhile, Iran’s senior military commander Ali Abdullahi warned Washington that any further aggression would face what he described as a decisive response from Iran’s armed forces.
The escalating tensions have also affected other countries in the region. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported that one of its major facilities was damaged during an Iranian attack, raising concerns over the broader impact of the conflict on regional energy infrastructure.
The latest developments have intensified fears of a wider confrontation in the Middle East, as diplomatic efforts continue alongside ongoing military exchanges between Iran and the United States.
