Jul 17 (V7N) — The United States has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes on strategic targets in Iran, with attacks reported for the second consecutive night in areas linked to the country's control of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Al Jazeera, one of the main targets was the strategically important city of Sirik, located near the Strait of Hormuz.
Similar strikes were also reported in Bushehr Province. Iranian local authorities said two bridges near the port city of Khamir were hit, leaving two people dead and four others injured.
Meanwhile, U.S. airstrikes also continued in the Allahu Akbar area of Bandar Abbas. Local officials said an attack on a residential area killed one person and injured eight others.
Separately, railway infrastructure near Bandar Abbas was also targeted, with reports indicating that two people were injured in the strike.
In southeastern Iran, Iranshahr Airport also came under attack. Authorities reported damage to airport infrastructure, although no casualty figures were immediately released.
Neither the U.S. Department of Defense nor Iranian authorities have provided a comprehensive assessment of the latest strikes or the extent of the damage.
