Tehran, Jul 15 (V7N)- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until what it described as "US aggression and hostility" comes to an end.

The warning was issued in a statement reported by Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera on Wednesday (July 15).

According to the IRGC, the United States launched attacks on Iranian military installations under the pretext of protecting ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The force accused Washington of using the operation to conceal what it called its "failure and incompetence."

The IRGC further claimed that no commercial or military vessel attempted to enter the Strait of Hormuz in violation of the blockade imposed by Iran and that no ship moved through the strategic waterway in coordination with the United States.

As a result, the force asserted that no vessel was targeted or attacked during the operation.

The latest statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where concerns continue to grow over the security of one of the world's most important maritime trade routes. The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant share of global oil and energy shipments, making any disruption to navigation a matter of international concern.

The IRGC's claims could not be independently verified, and there has been no immediate response from US authorities regarding the statement.
