Kharkiv, Ukraine, Jun 10 (V7N) – Russia has launched a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent call for a ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts to end the war.
According to local authorities, at least four people were killed and more than 20 others injured in the strikes carried out on Tuesday.
Russian missiles and drones reportedly struck several residential and commercial buildings across Kharkiv, causing extensive damage and trapping residents beneath the rubble. Emergency responders have launched large-scale rescue operations to locate and rescue those still missing following the attack.
Officials said multiple buildings were severely damaged, while rescue teams continued working through the debris amid concerns that the casualty toll could rise.
The latest assault came as President Volodymyr Zelensky was returning to Kyiv after holding high-level discussions with the leaders of Britain, France, and Germany regarding Ukraine’s security situation and ongoing international support.
In the wake of escalating attacks between Russian and Ukrainian forces in recent weeks, Zelensky has renewed calls for a ceasefire and a diplomatic solution to the conflict. He also proposed a trilateral dialogue involving Ukraine, Russia, and key international partners, with active participation from the United States and European nations.
Despite those appeals, the latest Russian strikes underscore the continuing intensity of the conflict, which has shown little sign of easing as both sides continue military operations across multiple fronts.
