Washington, Apr 28 (V7N) — The administration of US President Donald Trump is reviewing a new peace proposal from Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between the two nations and easing tensions in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump held detailed discussions on the proposal during a national security meeting on Monday (April 27). However, no final decision has been announced so far.
Earlier, Tehran sent the proposal to Washington through Pakistan acting as a mediator. The proposal reportedly focuses on ending hostilities and ensuring the continued operation of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy shipments. It also includes the possibility of future negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program.
Despite reviewing the proposal, Leavitt indicated that there has been no shift in the core conditions set by President Trump.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between the two countries, with global attention focused on the potential impact of any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz on international trade and energy markets.
