Tehran, Apr 10 (V7N) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz depends on strict adherence to ceasefire conditions and mutual coordination among all parties involved.
He made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Cho Hyun on Thursday (April 9), according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
During the discussion, Araghchi reviewed the evolving regional situation following the recent escalation involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. He emphasized that maintaining the ceasefire and respecting existing technical and security constraints are essential to ensuring uninterrupted maritime movement through the strategically vital waterway.
“If all parties remain committed to the ceasefire and coordinate effectively, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be achievable,” he said.
The Iranian foreign minister also noted that international support for the ceasefire—particularly from partner countries like South Korea—is playing a constructive role in stabilizing the region.
Meanwhile, Cho Hyun welcomed the ceasefire and stressed the importance of reducing military tensions in the Middle East. He called for sustained diplomatic efforts to ensure long-term peace and stability.
Following recent hostilities between Iran and the US-Israel alliance, the situation has eased somewhat due to the ceasefire. However, Iran is now focusing on advancing a negotiated resolution and restructuring the regional security framework to prevent further conflict.
