Islamabad, Apr 08 (V7N) – Following a two-week ceasefire, the United States and Iran are set to hold direct talks aimed at establishing a permanent peace. The high-level meeting is scheduled for next Friday in Islamabad, with both sides sending senior delegations.

According to Al Jazeera, the Iranian delegation will be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the US will be represented by Vice President JD Vance.

The discussions will be based on Iran’s recently revealed 10-point proposal. The proposal calls for the lifting of all primary and secondary US sanctions imposed over the past 45 years, extending beyond nuclear and regional security issues. Tehran emphasizes that the removal of sanctions dating back to 1979 is a key condition for meaningful dialogue.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed both delegations and expressed hope for successful talks. Earlier, US President Donald Trump described Iran’s proposal as a “workable basis” for negotiations.

Global attention is now focused on Islamabad, as the outcome of these talks could potentially end four decades of tension and hostility between the US and Iran in the Middle East.
