Dubai, Dec 21 (V7N)- Widespread flooding has disrupted normal life in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following unusually heavy rainfall over the past two days. At least 13 flights at Dubai International Airport were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, according to Dawn News.
Although rainfall is rare in the region, continuous heavy rain on Thursday and Friday led to severe waterlogging across several parts of the city. Roads, residential neighborhoods, and commercial areas were submerged, while floodwater entered homes, hotels, and business establishments, causing significant inconvenience to residents and tourists.
To manage the situation, authorities deployed more than 300 drainage pumps to remove accumulated water from affected areas. Several popular tourist destinations, including beaches and public parks, were temporarily closed as a safety precaution.
In addition, the Dubai government instructed public sector employees to stay at home and work remotely until conditions improve. Emergency teams remain on high alert as authorities continue efforts to restore normalcy.
Weather officials have advised residents to remain cautious, as further rainfall is possible in the coming days.
