Washington, Oct 17 (V7N) — US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to meet once again in a bid to halt the ongoing war in Ukraine. The high-profile summit will take place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, according to official sources.

The decision was made following a lengthy phone conversation between the two leaders on Thursday (October 16). President Trump confirmed the development in a post on his Truth Social account.

According to diplomatic sources, senior US and Russian officials will hold a preliminary meeting next week to outline the agenda ahead of the leaders’ summit.

This will mark Trump’s second meeting with Putin since beginning his second term in office. The two leaders last met in Alaska in August, where they discussed regional security and the future of NATO-Russia relations.

Observers see the upcoming Budapest meeting as a potential turning point in efforts to end the prolonged conflict in Ukraine, though skepticism remains high among Western allies.
