Ukhiya, Oct 12 (V7N) – The national typhoid vaccination campaign has been officially launched in Ukhiya upazila, targeting 88,278 residents across five unions.
The inaugural discussion session took place on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the hall of Kutupalong High School, presided over by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Nasrin Jebin.
Ukhiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest. He emphasized that ensuring public health is the responsibility of the government, but successful implementation of such programs requires awareness and cooperation from all levels of society.
According to the Upazila Health Complex, vaccination will be conducted in a total of 250 school and madrasa centers over the first 10 working days. Additionally, community-level vaccination centers have been established, with eight blocks per ward, totaling 120 centers across Ukhiya’s 15 wards. These centers will operate over the subsequent eight working days to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Other officials present included Upazila Family Planning Officer Nazmul Islam, Safe Food Inspector Nurul Alam, Principal Abdul Mannan of Kutupalong High School, and various health department staff members. In the afternoon, a monitoring team led by the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer visited West Ratna Government Primary School to inspect the vaccination process.
Local authorities and the health department emphasized that the government is taking all necessary measures to protect the residents of Ukhiya from the risk of typhoid through this vaccination drive.
