Beijing, Sep 05 (V7N) – North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un held a high-profile bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday, marking their first face-to-face encounter in six years. The meeting took place a day after China’s Victory Day Parade.

During the talks, the leaders discussed friendly bilateral relations and key issues of mutual interest. Xi Jinping expressed his pleasure at meeting Kim after such a long gap, saying, “Comrade Kim, I am very happy to meet you after six years. Wherever I went during my visit to your country in 2019, I felt the closeness between China and North Korea like a family.”

Kim Jong Un reciprocated warmly, stating, “I am moved to meet you after a long time. China’s world-shaking development in the past six years has deeply impressed me. Even more touching is the unwavering and deep friendship between the people of the two countries. This friendship will never change.”

The meeting comes amid Xi Jinping’s continued efforts to strengthen China’s global standing and showcase leadership both domestically and internationally. Analysts note that his recent diplomatic engagements, including appearances with Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un at the Victory Day military parade, underline China’s strategic positioning on the world stage.
